Lake Murray 4th of July Boat Parade 2019

Date: Saturday, June 29, 2019

Time: noon

Location: Parade begins at noon at Bomb Island heading towards the dam. Once boats have fallen in line behind the lead boat, the parade will head towards Lake Murray Dam. The parade will pass both the Lexington and Irmo parks at Lake Murray Dam. Therefore, both park sites are ideal for viewing the parade.

Cost: Free, but if watching from one of the Lake Murray Dam park sites admission is $2 per car.

Lake Murray Fireworks Celebration 2019

Date: Saturday, June 29, 2019

Time: approximately 9:15 p.m. (gates at Dreher Island State Park close at 8 p.m.)

Location: Multiple – Lake Murray Dam park sites and walking path, 2068 North Lake Drive, Columbia , SC 29210 or 1832 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072; Dreher Island State Park, 3677 State Park Road, Prosperity, SC 29127; Spence Island on Lake Murray

Cost: Lake Murray Dam park sites – $3 per car/truck, $2 per motorcycle, $5 per bus; Dreher Island State Park – $2 for adults, $1.25 SC Seniors, FREE for children 15 years and younger.

Details: The fireworks will take place at dusk on Saturday, June 29th from Dreher Island State Park and Spence Island. Viewers of the fireworks show will be able to tune in their radios for music that will be synced to the fireworks extravaganza. The participating radio stations are to come. Bring your family and friends and come celebrate on Lake Murray!! The best places to view the fireworks are Dreher Island State Park, by boat near Dreher Island and Spence Island or both parks at Lake Murray Dam. Bring a chair or blanket, picnics are welcomed. No alcohol permitted at any of the locations.


32nd Annual Carolina Celebration of Liberty

Date: Sunday, June 30, 2019

Time: 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (doors open 1 hour prior to each performance)

Location: First Baptist Church of Columbia, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Cost: Free, but must reserve tickets in advance by calling 803-217-3250 or reserving online

Details: The Carolina Celebration of Liberty is the longest running event of its kind in our state. It has been seen in person by well over 100,000 people and on television by untold thousands. From parades to indoor fireworks, the celebration is a flag waving patriotic extravaganza that recognizes and honors those who have fought to preserve our freedom as well as those who are presently serving.

The celebration was Governor Carroll Campbell’s official kick off for the welcome home week for Desert Storm. It has also been heralded and backed by Mayor Bob Coble for so many years. Special guests have included virtually every commanding general from Fort Jackson during these 31 years as well as officials from Shaw Air Force Base and our own state guard. Other special guests and supporters have included Congressman Floyd Spence, Congressman Joe Wilson, Governor Carroll Campbell, Governor Jim Hodges, Senator Strom Thurmond, Senator Tim Scott, Senator Lindsey Graham, Attorney General Alan Wilson and many other state and local elected officials.

Our veterans organizations are always very special guests and they are well represented by their commanders and other officers. With the Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra from First Baptist, the 282nd Army Victory Band, and a cast of hundreds you will thrill at the sights and sounds of America as we celebrate our freedom, our founding, and our future! Joe Pinner will once again be with us to celebrate his 32nd anniversary as master of Ceremonies! Don’t miss South Carolina’s premiere patriotic event!


Star Spangled Symphonic Salute

Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2019

Time: 7 – 9 p.m. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.

Location: Saluda Shoals Park, 5605 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212

Cost: Concert is free with park admission ($5 fee)

Details: Celebrate Independence Day at Saluda Shoals Park with a concert featuring the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra! The Symphony will perform a range of music from Broadway songs to patriotic music to sing-alongs! Remember to bring a picnic blanket or chair.


Columbia Fireflies Baseball & Independence Day Celebration

Date: Wednesday, July 3, 2019

Time: 7:05 p.m.

Location: Segra Park, 1640 Freed Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Cost: $5 – $12; parking may be additional, so bring cash

Details: Enjoy a spectacular fireworks show and celebrate our nation’s birthday with the Fireflies! Game against the Greenville Drive. 

Lexington County Peach Festival

Date: Thursday, July 4, 2019

Time: 8 a.m. – 10:20 p.m. (check event website for specific activity start times)

Location: Gilbert Community Park, Rikard Circle, Gilbert , SC 29054

Cost: Free, but parking is $5. Arts and crafts, children’s rides, and great foods will be available for varying fees.

Details: Our one-day family-friendly festival is an event for all ages! We invite you to come celebrate with us on the 4th of July, as we celebrate our community, Independence Day, and the Queen of all fruits, the peach! Enjoy live entertainment, fresh peach treats, arts and crafts, the peach parade, and of course, fireworks!


Harper Street Bike Parade

Date: Thursday, July 4, 2019

Time: 9 a.m. – noon

Location: Corner of Harper and Hunt Streets, Newberry, SC 29108

Cost: Free

Details: Nobody celebrates an All-American 4th of July quite like Newberrians. On the morning of the 4th the residents of the Harper Street neighborhood celebrate Independence Day by parading down Harper Street in decorated bikes, tricycles, golf carts, and outfits of red, white, and blue, for a good hosing at the end of the road by the Newberry Fire Department!


Military Appreciation Day – July 4th

Date: Thursday, July 4, 2019

Time: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Location: EdVenture, 211 Gervais Street, Columbia , SC 29201

Cost: EdVenture is proud to support military families by offering FREE admission for up to four guests.

Blowfish Baseball & Fireworks Show

Details: Celebrate the 4th of July with the Blowfish! Thirsty Thursday: $1 Drinks from 6 pm-8 pm, Independence Day Concert in the Sky Fireworks Show! Game against the Savannah Bananas. 


Fourth of July Fireworks

Date: Thursday, July 4, 2019

Time: Dark-thirty

Location: Newberry High School’s Mike Ware Field, 3419 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108

Cost: Not listed, so bring cash just in case!

Details: The Newberry County Sheriff’s office invites all to their annual 4th of July Fireworks Show at Newberry High School. The evening begins with kids’ inflatables and goodies from food trucks around the Newberry High School football field. Once dusk has settled the community gathers to sing the National Anthem and watch the fireworks light up the summer night sky.
