5 Date Night Ideas For Any Type of Dad

0

Father’s Day is almost upon us and if you’re anything like me you’re scrambling at the last minute to come up with an awesome gift idea. My husband doesn’t so much enjoy gifts as much as he enjoys experiences. So this year I’m doing something a little different and planning a date night for him. If you’re tired of the same old dinner and a movie routine, let’s mix it up a little! Here are some fun and unique ideas perfect for ANY type of dad!

Adventure Dad: International Dinner & Axe Throwing

Step out of your comfort zone and try out some new dishes at one of Columbia’s local international restaurants. Maybe you’re feeling Ethiopian food, Korean Barbecue, Thai, German, Brazilian, or even Caribbean. Check out Yelp for a full list of choices and recommendations. Afterward, head over to Columbia’s first (and only) ax throwing bar, Craft Axe Throwing, located downtown! What’s more adventurous than throwing an axe? Not much!

Sporty Dad: Brewery & Baseball Game

There’s nothing a sporty dad will love more than a night out drinking beers and cheering for one of Columbia’s favorite teams! I mean, who doesn’t love the Columbia Fireflies? Head over to one of the many breweries located downtown or in The Vista for a bite to eat and a little pregaming. Then after, enjoy a fun summer night of baseball over at Segra Park. They have home games June 15 and 16, and Saturday night’s game is 60’s night and they’ll even have fireworks. How romantic! Check out the Fireflies schedule to purchase your tickets in advance.

Logical Dad: Sushi & Escape Room

Columbia currently has five options for getting your Escape room fix, so whether you’re in Lexington, West Cola, near Downtown, or out in the Northeast, you should be able to find one near you. Before you workout your brain, be sure to fill up on some delicious sushi! Sushi not your thing? Then try checking out a hibachi grill. Dinner and a show! You and your partner will get to spend some quality time together while really flexing your thinking skills.

Geeky Dad: Pizza & Game/Arcade Night

Does your hubby geek out over board games and arcades? Then you need to check out Firefly Toys & Games. Grab a couple slices of your favorite pizza first and then head over to Firefly’s and challenge each other to your favorite games! I have three events I’d recommend. First, on Tuesdays they have board game nights, you can meet up with other friends or make new friends there, but this is perfect for board game lovers. Next, Thursday night is pinball night where you’ll battle other pinball masters like yourself. Pinball players of all skill levels are welcome! Lastly, if you’re looking for a family-friendly event, then check out Firefly’s on Saturday for their Family Game Night.

Classic Dad: Steak Dinner & Dessert Bar

Here you go, a tried and true recipe for the perfect date night sure to please any dad! So put on your best date night outfit, sharpen that eyeliner, and pick the cheerios out of your hair … because you’re getting fancy tonight. Head to Five Points, Main Street, or The Vista for some of Columbia’s best steaks. So many options, but wherever you choose be sure to call ahead and make reservations if you can! I’m recommending any place in The Vista because Columbia’s best two dessert bars are located there and they’re part 2 of our romantic date night. Sip some wine, splurge on an appetizer, and enjoy your delicious dinner sans kiddos … but save room for dessert. You now how a tough choice ahead of you, Nonnah’s or Kaminsky’s. Both are excellent and are super popular! No matter which you choose, you will both be happy you saved a little room!
