5 Mother’s Day Books for Children

0

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with some fun-themed books! Here are five my family enjoyed.

The Greatest Mother’s Day of All

This is a cute book written by an Australian author, Anne Mangan. This book reminds me of my kids and husband because the husband frantically waits until the last minute to buy “Mum’s” Mother’s Day gifts. They also make a huge mess cooking a surprise breakfast for her and Mum had to clean up the kitchen. I obviously wasn’t too happy about that part! It was still a cute book.

Mama and Me

I enjoyed this book because it is about an independent Spanish girl and her mother. I love it when my own children are independent and when I read them books about other girls who are independent it makes me happy. This book has a few Spanish words which makes it educational for English-speaking readers. This book was definitely one of my favorites.

The Night Before Mother’s Day

This book reads like, “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clarke Moore. I like this book because it describes a mom doing a hobby with her girlfriends. I think it’s important for children to see, and understand, that moms are people too. When the mom awakes on Mother’s Day the kids treat her to a spa session … so sweet. I remember when my own son used to do that for me. They treat their mother like the Queen she is in the ending of the book and it’s so cute!

What Not to Give Your Mom on Mother’s Day

Obviously from the title, you can see that this book is a list of things to not give your mom. What makes it educational and cute is that it describes what a bird per se would give its mother. “Do NOT give her a bucket of big, fat worms… unless she is a bird.” This book is about what different animals would give their mothers on Mother’s Day. Honestly, I didn’t even know bats ate mosquitoes until I read this book!

Biscuit Love’s Mother’s Day

Who doesn’t love Biscuit! I remember reading Biscuit books when I was a child. I think this one was my daughter’s favorites because she loves dogs. In this book, the little girl is so thoughtful, “Come along, Biscuit…[let’s] show mom how much we care.” They surprise Mom with breakfast in bed, paint her a picture, and help her with watering and planting the garden.
