Depending on your view of Easter, it’s either a religious holiday or another excuse to eat and exchange gifts. I’m the latter (read my other post about How to be a Southern Mama and NOT be Religious). I love all things that come with the spring season – except for the insane amount of pollen and allergies that blow in with it. All the beautiful array of colors, blooms, and incredible weather! Even in Columbia, where it’s “Famously Hot,” we have some lovely days with low humidity and gorgeous sunshine.
Regardless of how you celebrate, I think that this year we should ring it in by hosting an Easter Soiree with our mom friends and kiddos. Meet up at the local park (or your house), hide some Easter eggs for the kids and exchange baskets and goodies with one another. YES, you as moms need an Easter basket this year. Why NOT?
Here are some local offerings for ideas:
Crispin Rose Hard Cider
The photo says it all. It’s pretty, pink, and it happens to be delicious. You can find it at the Green’s Beverage Center and the World Market. Buy a six-pack and give 5 away to friends, but be sure to have one for yourself!
Gift Card to Sugarbelle Boutique on Downtown Main Street
This boutique started in Beaufort and then migrated over to Columbia and offers FIRST class service, a wide offering of affordable dresses, tops, denim, and shoes! It’s also kid-friendly (5 stars).
Pair of Druzy Studs from HippyDoDa Creations
You can usually find Chris (the owner) set up at Soda City every Saturday and her stuff is GORGEOUS! She’s also one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. Every piece is handmade with love and you know it’s absolutely original.
Homemade Bath Bombs from Scentsational Southern Soaps
Contact Tarra, the creator, directly via her Facebook site or phone (listed on the site). She will HOOK you up with incredibly priced bath bombs in a variety of scents (the lemonade and the lavender are sooo good). You’re also supporting a fellow Chapin mama, which is a bonus!
Cookies from Off The Track Bakery
If you haven’t had the deliciousness that comes with an Off the Track Bakery sweet treat – you are missing out. Lauren, the owner, is one of the most talented girls I’ve ever met and she bakes out of her HOME kitchen and is usually covered in frosting remnants and flour, but she loves it. Her platters are always made fresh to order and the Banana Pudding Cookies may be the BEST thing I’ve ever had.
With any of these pairings, you are certain to become your mom-circle FAVORITE. Throw in some Reese’s Eggs and some Starburst jelly beans (by the way, did you know they have unwrapped Starburst minis AND jelly beans together – MIND BLOWN) and you will make your friends’ hearts so happy that spring is here.
