Bloom :: An Event for New and Expecting Moms Recap

0

Bumps, babies and brunch… oh my! On May 11, Columbia SC Moms Blog welcomed more than 100 new and expectant moms from Columbia, Lexington and the surrounding areas for a special morning of learning, fun, and pampering! Moms had the opportunity to listen and ask questions of our expert panel, interact with local businesses and enter to win fun giveaways, have their photo taken by a professional photographer at our bump station, enjoy personal pampering like a mini massage, food and demonstrations, and so much more! It was truly a one-stop-shop for all things mom!!

The Venue

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue! While many people associate Segra Park with Columbia Fireflies baseball, it is offers so much more! Designed for baseball, concerts, soccer, football and a host of other activities, the venue seats approximately 9,000 for sporting events and up to 15,000 for major outdoor concerts. With 16 luxury suites and a 7,000 square-foot Club Lounge, Segra Park can also host everything from business meetings to wedding receptions, and everything in between. The venue is open 365 days a year and serves as a public park, with the 360-degree concourse representing 1/3 of a mile for walkers and joggers. We were lucky enough to host Bloom in their state of the art Club Lounge.

The Décor

How adorable is this? We loved having a custom made sign from Sign Gypsies to help welcome guests! They create custom yard signs with lots of options for any occasion and have lots of options for helping make events, birthdays, and other occasions extra special.

For our event décor and centerpieces, the talented team at Brush and Petals created beautiful paper flowers! Our guests were oooohing and awwwwing at the intricate and unique designs. They provide handmade paper flower backdrops, photo frames, and décor to add a unique touch to any occasion, and are perfect for considering things like outfitting your child’s room or nursery!

The Food

Segra Park also has their own in-house catering, with lots of creative menu options. Bloom guests dined on a brunch of egg medallions, croissants, danishes, sausage, “mom”mosas and more! And the best part is, the on-hand staff is there to set up and take care of all the details!

Table Sponsors

Guests had a great time connecting with local businesses. From latest fashions for baby to newborn photography and much more, everyone had the opportunity to learn more about the resources available to them in the community.

Changing Station

Guests with little ones had an extra special treat – a changing station sponsored by babyganics! Mamas had the chance to try out their diapers, wipes, ointments, hand lotion, and more!

Feeding Room

One of the favorite spots guests enjoyed visiting was the feeding lounge, courtesy of South Carolina Lactation and Newborn Wellness Center. Here, mamas could relax, take a short break, and feed or change their baby – plus there were snacks, bottled water, and nursing pillows! The South Carolina Lactation and Newborn Wellness Center is committed to helping you meet YOUR goals and want to be your community resource for breastfeeding/breastmilk feeding.

Swag Bags

Each Bloom attendee received an incredible swag bag full of wonderful goodies and products to enjoy from the following brands!

Bump + Baby Station

Each guest had the option to stop by our  Belly+Baby station to have their picture by Marcelle Raphael Fine Art Newborns. VIP ticket holders received an edited, high resolution image via email after the event, while regular ticket holders had the opportunity to enjoy their pictures in our Bloom album of photos shared after the event on our Facebook page.

Guest Speakers

We were thrilled to welcome three professionals from our community for a very special Q&A on all things pregnancy, childbirth and infant care related. Speakers included pediatrician Dr. Daniel Powers from SouthernMed Pediatrics, Anne Anderson, certified DONA international doula from Babybird Doula, and Ashley Kates, owner and founder of Heal & Seal specializing in diastasis recti and pelvic floor support. They covered a variety of topics from what to expect when you go into labor to tips on caring for baby once your little one arrives, as well as taking care of your body and self after your little one arrives.

Giveaways

And the winner is…. we had over 50 fabulous giveaways from these national and local sponsors! Guests enjoyed visiting the display of giveaways and divvying up their raffle tickets for the most-wanted prizes!
