Bite of the Week: Soft Scrambled Egg Tartine and Chrysanthemum Latte at smallSUGAR

If you’re looking for a relaxed, full-service, family-friendly place for breakfast, lunch, or coffee, you can’t do better in Columbia than smallSUGAR.

This week, I’m highlighting one of my all-time favorite breakfasts: the soft scrambled egg tartine. It’s so simple and so perfect!

The eggs are hot and moist and flawless, sprinkled with fresh herbs after they’ve been laid atop a thick slice of homemade country loaf that will curl your toes. On the side is a crisp salad of local greens dressed lightly in oil, lemon, salt, and pepper.

I often order the chrysanthemum latte to drink when I get this breakfast. It’s not overly sweet and has an earthy floralness that I can’t compare to anything else (They make the flower syrup in-house, of course). It’s SO good.

But then, so is everything at smallSUGAR.

smallSUGAR is located at 709 Gervais Street, (behind where Newk’s used to be), and is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Have you tried smallSUGAR? What’s your favorite?
