Columbia Mom EATS :: Social Distancing Edition!

0

Wow, how things have changed in Columbia in just the last few days!

Schools are closed, people are working from home, restaurants are closing their doors, and Soda City Market has been canceled for the foreseeable future.

However, it’s never been a better time to support our beloved local businesses! (From a safe distance, of course.)

COLAToday has put together an excellent list of restaurants in the area that are offering takeout, delivery, and curbside service right now, which I will be referring to often in the coming weeks.

After being stuck inside for the past couple of days, Finn and I ventured out (to our car, anyway) to take full advantage of the services local businesses and restaurants are offering right now!

First Stop :: Odd Bird Books

Located in the Arcade Building on Main Street, Odd Bird Books is the newest kid on the block when it comes to independent book stores. And right now, the owner himself will bring any book you want to your car for you, or even deliver it to your home! For FREE! How amazing is that??

With libraries closed and even Amazon slowing down their shipping, this is the perfect solution to get your literary fix while supporting local business owners. I picked up a copy of Such a Fun Age and never even had to get out of my car. (PRAISE HANDS.)

Second Stop :: smallSUGAR

Our beloved smallSUGAR is currently offering online ordering and curbside pickup for incredible, fresh, gourmet food for your family! Just visit the “Shop” section of their website to place your order. We picked up freshly baked bread, chicken salad, and hummus to graze on today and it’s all delish. Obvi.

Third Stop :: Drip on Main

Several local coffee shops are offering phone or online ordering with curbside pickup right now (can I get an AMEN), including The Well Cafe, Indah Coffee, and Curiosity Coffee. I happened to be on Main Street already today, so I called Drip on Main to ask if they would offer curbside coffee delivery. They said, “Absolutely! Anything we can do to help you out!” And moments later, a glove-wearing barista delivered a honey-vanilla latte and a hot chocolate to my car. Mmmmmm!

How are you continuing to enjoy local food and support local businesses during this chaotic time??
