If you’ve ever visited Soda City Market on a Saturday, you’ve probably seen the flags (and long lines of hungry customers) that mark The Belgian Waffle Truck. Husband and wife team Chef Jean-Louis and Yvette Ledent craft truly authentic sweet and savory Belgian waffles with a menu that features something for everyone. They have also been incredible to the Columbia community during COVID-19, handcrafting cloth face masks and giving them away for free during quarantine. (You can still buy children’s and adult masks from the truck for $5!)
My personal favorite item on the menu is the Croque Monsieur, a ham and cheese waffle sandwich that I’ve ordered so often that when I approach the truck, Yvette just says “the usual?”
Finn, my five-year-old, is obsessed with their signature “Strawbwaffle,” a warm, sweet waffle smothered in fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Yum!
The Belgian Waffle Truck also hosts gourmet, multi-course brunches that are not to be missed. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for the most up-to-date information on their events.
