The Day I Let My Boys Give Me a Makeover

0

“Mommy, can we paint your nails?”

It was a simple request. But it was also a request I was slightly afraid to grant. A seven-year-old and a four-year-old painting my nails? This could only go one direction…

Did I really want them painting my nails? I mean, I’d have to leave it on for at least a week so they’d feel good about themselves. Was I really up for going out in public with super messy nails, each nail a different color?

My first instinct was to say no. But, like any good mother, that’s not what I did. I saw their little faces and realized how much it meant to them. I knew they wanted to help mommy look pretty. They were so excited! So I put my pride aside and said yes.

My boys had so much fun painting my nails! It was a blast watching them as they took turns picking a color and putting in on my nails. They did my toenails and my fingernails. It was a mess, but it was a happy mess! I broke out the nail polish remover to clean up the edges a bit but left the rest. The boys were so proud of themselves and whenever we went out after that, they would tell our friends that they gave mommy a manicure and pedicure. It was very sweet.

After they finished my nails they asked if they could do my hair and makeup. What could I do but say yes? I grabbed my makeup, hair clips, and away they went. Oh, man … you’d have thought they were just told we were going on a trip to Disney World, they were so excited. The giggling and laughing that ensued while they were working on me was music to my ears. They just had so much fun!

As you can see, it turned out quite…ummm…well, interesting. Ha! Ha! But the boys were so pleased with themselves that I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Best makeover I’ve ever had!

Have you let your children give you a makeover? What were the results?
