My husband is a huge barbecue fan, and he loves to grill year round. He made this dessert of grilled peaches for me on our third date, and I’ve been in love with him (and his cooking) ever since.
This recipe is very versatile and can be utilized for a variety of family gatherings hosted in your home, or on an average night where you just want something good and tasty after dinner. It is also very quick and easy, so you can prepare the peaches in advance and heat up right before serving. It’s basically the PERFECT, fuss-free sweet treat to compliment any meal or occasion.
Grilled Peaches a la Mode
Get the grill ready and enjoy peaches a new way! If you haven’t tried cooking them like this, you’re in for a real treat. Serves 4, but can easily be doubled or tripled to accommodate all guests.
2 ripe peaches
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon sugar
Ice Cream
4 strawberries, sliced (optional)
Cut the ripe peaches in 1/2 and remove the pits with a spoon. Place the peach halves in a Ziploc bag with 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup and the 1/2 tsp of cinnamon sugar. Seal the bag and place it in the refrigerator for thirty minutes minimum. While the peaches are marinating, check to ensure your grill is clean, and start heating the charcoal. When the grill is hot, place the peaches on the grill for 3-4 minutes on each side. Save the maple syrup/honey/cinnamon sugar in the bag for later. After the peaches are removed from the grill, warmed and with grill marks on them, place each peach half in a bowl. Place one scoop of ice cream in the peach where the pit used to be. Top with strawberries if you’d like. Drizzle with the leftover maple syrup/honey/cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve immediately and enjoy!
