Guide to Columbia Area Pumpkin Patches


Fall is my favorite time of year. I start planning out my fall activities weeks in advance. Let’s not even get started on when I started decorating! I can’t wait to go back to some of the Midlands most popular pumpkin patches and enjoy all the fun they have to offer with my my family. To help you on your quest for the perfect jack-o-lantern, here’s a list of some of our favorite patches across the Columbia area!

Clinton Sease Farm

Dates: Sept. 20 – Nov. 10, 2019

Friday, 6  p.m. – 11 p.m. | Saturday, 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. | Sunday, 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. 

Location: 404 Olde Farm Road Lexington, SC  29072

This is a favorite local pumpkin patch because it has so much more than just pumpkins. Clinton Sease Farm includes a HUGE corn maze, hay bale mazes, tractor-pulled hay rides where you can see a functional farm including a variety of farm animals, a cow tractor, and an awesome playground with three-story slide. You and your family can truly spend all day having fall fun at Clinton Sease Farm and the staff is friendly. Come back at night without the kids to check out the creepy Deceased Farm for super-duper scares. Admission to Pumpkin Patch is $14 and includes unlimited hay rides. Children 3 and under are free!

McLeod Farms

Dates: Sept. 28 – Nov. 3, 2019 (pumpkins will be ready around Oct. 1)

Thursday – Friday, 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. | Saturday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m | Sunday, 1 p.m.-6 p.m. 

Location: 29247 S.C. Hwy 151  McBee, SC 29101

Looking for a one stop shop in Chesterfield County? McLeod farms has 2 mazes in 1, 20-acres, pumpkin patch, wagon rides, children’s play area, photo opportunities and more! The 2019 corn maze theme is super heroes! You will be quizzed on your favorite heroes and villains as you try to work your way through the maze’s twists and turns. You may even see a few of your favorites. To celebrate our local super heroes, 50% of all ticket sales will go to McLeod Children’s Hospital! Tickets are $10 ages 4 & up. You can purchase tickets at the Roadside Market on Hwy #151 or online.

Trenholm Road United Methodist Church

Dates: Sept. 29 – Oct. 31, 2019

Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. | Sunday, 1 – 7 p.m.

Location: 3401 Trenholm Road  Columbia, SC  29223

Plenty of pumpkins of all sizes available!  All will be ripe for the picking on the front lawn. Check them out!

Lever Farms

Dates: Open ever Saturday in October

10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Location: 5057 S.C. Highway 34  Pomaria, SC  29072

This fun pumpkin patch is worth the drive! Lever Farms includes a patch where you can pick your own pumpkins and a stall where you can purchase already-picked pumpkins. There’s also a farm animals, a mini corn maze for kids, a corn pit, pumpkin bowling and educational tractor-pulled hay rides.

Northeast United Methodist Church

Dates: Oct. 1 – 31, 2019

Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. | Sunday noon – 8 p.m. 

Location: 4000 Hard Scrabble Road  Columbia, SC  29223

Known in the area as “the pumpkin patch church” and open daily throughout October, this local pumpkin patch is sure to please! It offers 40 varieties of pumpkins, as well as Indian corn and gourds. Proceeds go to the church youth group’s charity projects. They have donated to charities locally and internationally through this mission.

Fox Farms

Dates: Oct. 12, Oct. 26, and Nov. 2, 2019

10 a.m. – noon 

Location: 133 Virginia Pine Ln, Lexington, SC 29073

Come out to Lexington to enjoy a a horse ride, hay ride, pet/feed a barnyard animal and participate in the pumpkin and gourd hunt. Each child jumps in to a large pile of hay to search for the perfect pumpkin or gourd to take home. Child tickets are $8. Adult tickets will be $2 to accompany the kids around the farm (includes taking a hay ride and visiting our farm animals with the kids). If you want to buy additional pumpkins, weenie roast, s’more, etc., you can pay that via cash or check at the farm. Tickets for the Pumpkin Hunt and rides are only available for purchase online. South Carolina Railroad Museum Pumpkin Express Train

Dates: Oct. 19 and 26, 2019

10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., or 3 p.m.

Location: 110 Industrial Park Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180

Children of all ages ride the train to the pumpkin patch in Greenbriar where Children 12 and under can select a pumpkin, decorate the pumpkin, get their faces painted, play games, and other activities.  Food trucks, Kettle Corn and Funnel cakes are usually available in Greenbriar. Round trip 1st class is $20, Coach $15. Children 2 and under are free.

The South Carolina State Farmers Market

Dates: Ongoing

Monday – Saturday, 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. | Sunday, noon – 6 p.m.

Location: 3483 Charleston Hwy., West Columbia, SC 29172

The South Carolina State Farmers Market located in West Columbia has farmers that sell pumpkins too. While you are there you can also pick up some Certified South Carolina grown fresh fruits and vegetables.

    Boy Scout Troop 815 Pumpkin Patch at 195 Amicks Ferry Rd., Chapin, Sc. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Walk thru our pumpkin patch to find that perfect pumpkin from the already picked pumpkins. There also will be a number of specialty pumpkins and gourds for decorations. Enjoy family fun on Saturdays with a pumpkin decorating table, games, a photo area, and BBQ concessions.
