Guide to Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) Around Columbia

It’s getting close to that time of the year again. Vacation Bible School (VBS)! For many families, VBS is a summer staple. And because they are so much fun and loaded with tons of learning and activities, it’s not uncommon for kids to attend more than one session at different churches. It’s a great way to make new friends and get involved in the community. All the Vacation Bible Schools listed below are FREE or a small cost to attend.


June 5-9 (Sunday-Thursday)

Lugoff First Baptist Church

(Lugoff) K3 through 5th grade, 6–8:30 p.m. At VBS: Spark Studios, we will get our creative juices flowing and explore our artistic side! We will discover that our creativity is a gift from God who designed us for His Glory! We will have fun each night with praise music, crafts, dinner, recreation time, and a Bible Study!

First Calvery Baptist Church

(Batesburg-Leesville) Ages 3 years old through 6th grade, 6–8:15 p.m. Be prepared to experience the jaw-dropping beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, the arid temperature of outback afternoons, the architectural marvels of Australia’s modern cities, and the fascinating eucalyptus forest, home of the koalas. At Zoomerang, the newest Answers VBS, you’ll marvel at the unforgettable wildlife, culture, and beauty of Australia while exploring the wonder and value of life, from the lives of preborn babies to eternal life in the kingdom of God.

Trinity United Methodist Church

(Blythewood) Ages 4 years old through rising 6th grade, 6–8:30 p.m. Participate in games, crafts, science experiments, singing, dancing, Bible stories, and snacks.


June 6-9 (Monday-Thursday)

Malvern Hill Baptist Church

(Camden) Ages 2 years old through completion of 6th grade, 6–8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Spark Studios. Kids will learn that God’s creativity didn’t stop in Genesis. The Master Artist is working to redeem, reclaim, and transform us–His creation–to the design He planned for us. Kids will see the beautiful truth that they are God’s workmanship as they learn to use their talents to bring glory to Him.


June 6-10 (Monday-Friday)

GraceChurch of Columbia

(Downtown Columbia) Ages 4 years old through completion of 4th grade, 6–8 p.m. Theme: Concrete & Cranes – Jesus! Our Strong Foundation!


June 11 (Saturday)

Cherokee Baptist Church

(Gilbert) Ages rising 4K through rising 6th grade, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. The day will be filled with crafts, singing, games, and of course, The Word, as we explore our theme: A Very Sunny Christmas. (You will get to take home your very own Christmas Tree for your room!)
Lunch and a snack will be provided.


June 13-16 (Monday-Thursday)

Mt. Horeb UMC

(Lexington) Ages 4 years old through completion of 5th grade, Three sessions offered: 9 a.m.–12 p.m., 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m., 6 p.m.–8:30 p.m. Monumental VBS where kids (and adults) celebrate God’s greatness! It’s a week full of Bible stories, crafts, songs and snacks! Register now to join us. Online registration closes June 1 at 11:59 p.m.

North Point Community Church

(Northeast) Preschool through having completed 5th grade. 6–8:00 p.m. This year’s theme is Monumental.


June 19-22 (Sunday-Wednesday)

Holland Avenue Baptist Church

(Cayce) Ages 3 years old through 8th grade, 6–8 p.m. This year’s theme is Monumental.

Union United Methodist Church

Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church

(Lexington) Ages rising 4K through 6th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Kids at VBS 2022 Spark Studios, will get creative and let CHRIST be the SPARK in everything they do! First Presbyterian Church of Columbia

(Downtown Columbia) Ages 4 old through 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.This summer we are taking off on a road trip to explore Monument Valley in the southwest United States at Monumental VBS! We will be discovering God’s Word and celebrating God’s greatness.

Spring Valley Baptist Church

(Northeast) Ages entering kindergarten through completed 7th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Theme is Spark Studios. Rising 6th-8th graders have separate VBX activities planned just for older kids that will take place at the same time as VBS and will be located in our Student Center—registration is the same as VBS.


June 27-29 (Monday-Wednesday)

VillageChurch

(Downtown Columbia) Ages rising 1st through 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Kids will enjoy crafts, games, snacks, worship, and Bible truth. Encourage your kids to invite a friend.


June 27-30 (Monday-Thursday)

Gateway Baptist Church

(Irmo) Ages 3 years old through completed 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Mega Camp is a mesh between Vacation Bible School and a sports or activities camp. Our hope is to reach preschool and elementary aged kids with the Gospel using creative and energetic outlets. 

Shandon Baptist Church

(Columbia) Ages completed 5 year old kindergarten through completed 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. The theme is Make Waves


June 27-July 1 (Monday-Friday)

Northeast Presbyterian Church

(Northeast) Ages 3 and potty trained 3 through rising 3rd graders, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and rising 4th grade through 6th grade, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Each day will be filled with incredible Bible-learning, yummy snacks, creative hands-on crafts, fun, and really cool music. Not to mention some crazy skits! Get ready to have a blast! Theme is Zoomerang. 


July 11-15 (Monday-Friday)

Beulah United Methodist Church

(Gilbert): Ages 3 years old through rising 5th grade, 5:45–8 p.m. Theme is Monumental.

St. Joseph Catholic Church

(Downtown Columbia): Ages preschool through rising 5th grade, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Go off-road for a Monumental adventure through the colorful canyons and sunbaked trails of the southwest. By exploring God’s awesomeness, kids form a rock-solid faith for the road ahead. Early bird registration rates available through June 5: $30 for one child; max of $50 per family. Pricing after June 5: $35 for one child; max of $60 per family


July 18-20 (Monday-Wednesday)

Grace Presbyterian Church

(Downtown Columbia) Ages rising 4K through 6th grade, at night (TBD) Join us as we “Make Waves” and learn what we do today can change the world around us! We believe it’s possible for kids and volunteers to create a ripple effect that can impact the world around them in ways they will never forget. God dropped you onto this planet to do the same thing- to make waves!
