Engaging adults and children with sensory disorders can be a challenging task, especially in an environment where they don’t feel in control. That’s why Richland Library is excited to announce the opening of our interactive Southeast Multisensory Room (7421 Garners Ferry Rd., 29209) to help users explore their senses and improve the way they process new information.

The Multisensory Room will serve as a therapeutic environment that promotes intellectual stimulation, calmness and relaxation. Some of the equipment includes an interactive bubble tube, sensory bins and a weighted blanket.

The multisensory room will be open Monday – Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. (closed 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.); Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. (closed Noon – 1 p.m.) and Sunday from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.

This room does have a one-hour time limit Monday through Saturday and a 30-minute limit on Sundays.

All cardholders aged 18 years and older can complete an orientation to reserve the multisensory room. To schedule an orientation call 803-776-0855 or e-mail SEmultisensory_mg@richlandlibrary.com.
