Step into a good book and enjoy another interactive experience in Richland County. Richland Library is launching a second StoryWalk® location at Caughman Road Park (2733 Trotter Road, Hopkins).
Families can start at the walking trail near the oak-lined tree entrance and travel around the park’s multi-use athletic fields to view each page and take part in activities. The path, around a half mile long, is both easily visible and walkable for young readers.
We’re currently featuring How Do You Wokka-Wokka?, written by Elizabeth Bluemle and illustrated by Randy Cecil, with the book selection rotating seasonally.
To celebrate, the library is creating StoryWalk®-themed carry-out kits that highlight different elements in the book, including: maracas, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. They’re available at all 13 library locations while supplies last.
Don’t forget to explore our other StoryWalk® location at Doko Meadows Park (100 Alvina Hagood Circle, Blythewood), featuring Rainbow Stew by Cathryn Falwell, and be on the lookout for a third StoryWalk® location this fall.
The library is able to bring StoryWalk® to our community thanks to support from SC Humanities, Prisma Health, WLTX, the Richland County Recreation Commission, the Town of Blythewood, and the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department.
