Corporate Melanin Millenial

I’m Nikki. A corporate strategist, career & public speaking coach, planner of all things, writer, Netflix Binge Queen, wife, dog mom, and creator of Corporate Melanin Millennial.

What makes me, a 28-year-old mid-level employee qualified to give career or public speaking knowledge? I’m the “I don’t take no for an answer type of person.” I’ve reached out for every role I have. I’ve helped over 40 people in the last 12 months alone land jobs due to resume overhauls and LinkedIn overhauls. 89% of those people landed roles that resulted in an increase in income. Public speaking? I have multiple 1st place awards in an international public speaking organization. I love public Speaking and as I tell my clients and my students when you have a passion for something you do it better than anything else.

CMM was created to help other millennials find their passions. You spend almost 2,000 hours a year at work. You should be happy there. My goal through consultative career coaching, resume overhauls, LinkedIn, and one on ones is to help you blend your passion & your career.

Mindful Steps

Hi! I’m Andrea Dorn and I’m a local mom, children’s book author, and mental health therapist, and my mission is to encourage healthy social emotional learning in every home through evidence-based, mindfulness-informed resources that support children, families, educators and other professionals.

My internationally sold children’s book series, The Mindful Steps Series, is made up of engaging teaching and learning how-to guides that take children through tricky transitions and skill development with concrete, step-wise explanations – so kids know what to expect and what is expected of them (which is what psychology tells us is important for effective learning!). This series is also designed to support caregivers and professionals through teaching these concepts with attachment building process questions and additional teaching tips in each book.

My newest book, Calm and Peaceful Mindful Me, is a gentle introduction into the important social emotional skill of mindfulness, but my ever-growing series also consists of a potty and a big brother/big sister how-to guide (and stay tuned for my newest book on child bereavement releasing early next year). Check out my website for mindfulness resources and my IG account for child development tips grounded in mindfulness, kindness, and connection. Happy reading!

The Plan by Lauren Truslow

My name is Lauren Truslow and I am a mom of four and a small business owner. My four kiddos are Peyton-9, Harper & Emma-5 and Gunner-4. Life is crazy with #Truslowpartyof6, but on top of being a mom and wife, I have five small businesses.

I started with barre3 Columbia, added on barre3 Lake Murray, founded The Nail barre downtown, followed by the Lake Murray location and now The Plan by Lauren Truslow.

All of my small businesses have women at the center of them and my main mission and passion is to instill confidence in them. I have been doing this through fitness, self-care at The Nail barre and now through a day planner that focuses on taking time out of every day for you.

Seminole Candle Company

Hi! I’m Jenny Harrison, owner of Seminole Candle Company. I have always loved candles, and started my West Columbia based business in 2018 to share that love with my community.

My goal is to educate on the benefits of soy wax, and enhance your quality of life and relationships through the healthiest and highest quality candles possible. Our signature fragrances transport you to another time and place while facilitating new memories. Helen Keller says it best; “smell is a potent wizard that transports you across thousands of miles and all the years you have lived.”

Silver Spoon Bakeshop

Erin Nobles is the owner of Silver Spoon Bake Shop on Devine Street. A native South Carolinian, she attended USC then went on to train in French pastry in New York City.

After working in Charlotte and Charleston, Erin was ready to open her own bakery and Columbia’s Devine Street was a perfect location. Eight years later, Silver Spoon is Columbia’s neighborhood bakery. Covid has changed the bakery’s business model but Silver Spoon still offers a variety of baked goods for pick up on Friday afternoons.

Steel Garden

Denise Shealy is the owner of Steel Garden. Steel Garden is a roaming plant truck that brings plants to downtown Columbia and its surrounding areas for easy shopping and even delivery.

Steel Garden also has several retail installations located throughout Columbia. Many of the plants available are easy to care for and Denise has a wealth of knowledge to help keep your plants alive and healthy!

A special thanks to all these amazing businesses for participating! Ready for your chance to win big? Head over to our Instagram and enter there!
