Columbia City Ballet presents World Premier of Beatles, The Ballet

Columbia City Ballet is producing a World Premier Ballet based on one of the most iconic bands of all time, the Beatles. This multi-media ballet will follow the story of the Beatles’ careers beginning in the 1960s, and examining their cultural impact and the elevation of social consciousness through their music.

Featuring 40 songs, and conceived of by William Starrett, Executive & Artistic Director of Columbia City Ballet, the ballet will include works by multiple choreographers, all under the artistic direction of Starrett.

Mr. Starrett was inspired to create the ballet through reflection upon the wide variety of music the group recorded in such a relatively short span of time. In addition, further inspiration arises from the fact that many of the issues the Beatles addressed in their work continue to be topics in our current national conversation. Always searching for ways to broaden the ballet audience while keeping the art current, Starrett feels the inspiration and influence the Beatles continue to have on subsequent generations is the perfect catalyst for inspiring a new generation of audience members.

The production will generate a lot of excitement and interest through promotional activities designed to enhance the performance experience. The 1960s can’t be revisited without attention to ‘60’s fashion, therefore a pre-show VIP reception with a ‘60’s theme will be at 6:00 p.m. prior to the evening performance. An open bar and hors d’oeuvres will be served as Artistic Director William Starrett speaks on the creation of the ballet. Guests are invited to dress in their grooviest sixties attire.

Beatles, the Ballet is guaranteed to be an exciting and memorable production by South Carolina’s largest performing arts organization. Tiffany traded in back-to-back business meetings and PowerPoint presentations, for sippy cups and play dates – leaving her corporate job behind to become a stay at home mom to her 16-month-old toddler. To say life is different is an understatement, and she now has a new found love and respect for the “hardest” (and best!) job she’s ever had. A native South Carolinian, Tiffany is best described as kind-hearted and friendly, with a quick sense of humor. When she’s not toting her little one around town to the latest kid friendly activity, you can find her enjoying a latte at Drip, catching up on the latest celebrity gossip magazines, or watching old reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 from the early 90′s. She received her Masters Degree in Integrated Communications from the University of South Carolina in 2007, and enjoys reading, writing and all things "mom."
