Spring has arrived and my family is overjoyed! Even though we’re plagued by seasonal allergies, there’s something exciting about the weather warming up and having new plans to look forward to. With a little rain and lots of sunshine headed our way, I’ve compiled a list of 15 activities we hope to accomplish before spring ends!
Splash in Puddles
The best part about rain in the spring is that it’s warm enough to play in the water. Grab your rain boots and get ready to splash around!
Raise Butterflies
My children look forward to this every spring! We order a butterfly kit and it arrives with everything you need to grow butterflies at home, including five live caterpillars!
Pick Strawberries
Is it just me, or does fruit taste better when you pick it yourself? From mid-April through mid-June, you can gather your own delicious berries at Cottle Strawberry Farm. Or check out our guide to strawberry picking patches for other options.
Have a Picnic
Pack a light meal and head outside for a special day of family and food!
Plant Flower Seeds
If you aren’t exactly known for your green thumb, this kit has everything you need to grow beautiful flowers at home.
Make Breakfast Casserole
Whether it’s Easter brunch or just a typical morning, this easy meal is always a crowd-pleaser. You can add your favorite breakfast ingredients, but I like mine with eggs, shredded potatoes, shredded cheese, bell peppers, onion, and a little salt and pepper. Everything bakes at 350 degrees for 90 minutes and comes out de-lish!
Feed Ducks or Geese
If you don’t get a chance to pick up duck pellets, they also enjoy corn, lettuce, peas, oats, and seeds.
Fly a Kite
Keep some kites on hand so that you’re always ready for a perfect, windy day!
Declutter Your Closets
It would be ideal to declutter the entire house but start with letting go of old clothes and shoes that your family no longer has a need for. If you feel motivated to keep going, head to the kitchen and bathrooms next.
Make a Spring Wreath
Add a touch of color to your front door and bring happiness to all who pass by.
Look for Rainbows
These can be tricky to spot, but if you happen to find one, be sure to enjoy it.
Go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt
Spring is the best time to be outside! Print out this nature scavenger hunt and have fun exploring in the fresh air.
Make Yogurt Parfaits
Layer yogurt, granola, and your favorite fruit to make a healthy treat. Parfaits are delicious and refreshing for breakfast or snack time.
Read Outside
Grab a blanket, your kiddos, and your favorite books for outdoor storytime.
Clean Up Your Neighborhood
Spring clean your block! Enlist the help of your neighbors and spend a morning or afternoon picking up trash and beautifying your neighborhood.
