It’s fall y’all which means … Halloween time! Check out the great events that the Columbia area has to offer below! From haunted houses to trunk or treats, corn mazes and more – there’s something for everyone!

Deceased Farms

Dates: September 17 – October 31, 2021 (limited to weekends and certain days of the week)

Time: 7:30 p.m. (last ticket sold at 10 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday, and 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and Halloween)

Details: Come experience our self guided haunt through 6 terrifying buildings, 3 outdoor zones and 2 acres of creepy corn fields. Deceased Farm begins with a visit to our Dead and Breakfast before transported to a dark and desolate farm inhabited by unspeakable creatures hoping to make you this year’s harvest! Deceased Farm is an intense haunted attraction and is NOT recommended for children under the age of 12. Details: Elgin’s Extreme Haunted Attraction, The Dark Knights Terror Trail is back! Scarecrows in the Garden

Haunted History Halloween Programs

Details: This family-friendly event focuses on some of the spookier aspects of Lexington County history. Visitors will tour the museum grounds and see skits based on Lexington County’s history. Trunk or Treat

Date: October 22, 2021

Cost: Free

Details: Trunk or Treat offers a twist on traditional Halloween fun for all ages. Community members, local organizations and families will come together in a safe environment with decorated vehicles and trunks filled with candy for trick-or-treating. Don’t forget to knock on the door of the Robert Mills House, too! Kids get to trick or treat at the basement doors of Robert Mills.

This year, masks are required for all participants, and we will promote social distancing by limiting the number of trunks in our parking lot and having tables spread out throughout the lawn. Participants are asked to bring hand sanitizer to use while distributing candy.


Halloween at the Park

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Date: October 23, 2021

Time: 3 – 6 p.m.

Cost: $3 per pumpkin (register online by October 21)

Details: Carve your best Halloween pumpkin and enter it into the pumpkin carving contest at Saluda Shoals Park. Pumpkins will be displayed along the Trick-or-Treat Trail at Leo’s Landing Playground.

Pumpkin Carving Contest Rules:

  • Pumpkins must be carved
  • Decorations can be added to the carved pumpkins
  • Entrant provides own pumpkin and decorating materials
  • Drop off pumpkins between 12 – 2 p.m. Sat., October 23, 2021 at Leo’s Landing Parking Lot
  • Pumpkins will be judged at the trick-or-treat trail on Saturday, October 23 from 3 – 6:30 p.m.
  • All entries must be in good taste and suitable for all ages
  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  • Winners will be contacted the week after the event.

SKC Annual Trunk or Treat

Pumpkin Patch Express

Cost: $15 – $135 (children under age 3 are considered lap infants and do not need tickets unless they need their own seat)

Details: Children of all ages ride the train to the pumpkin patch in Greenbriar where children 12 and under can select a pumpkin, decorate the pumpkin, get their faces painted, play games, and other activities. A food truck is usually available in Greenbriar.

Once he sets eyes on the local beauty, Katrina Van Tassel, he’s sure his dreams will come true. Unhappily for Ichabod, Katrina has an extremely jealous boyfriend… the boisterous Brom Bones. To complicate matters the graveyard is haunted by an army of restless spirits, including the most famous phantom of all, the Headless Horseman. For all events, visitors 3 and older must wear a COVID protecting mask or face covering over their nose and mouth while indoors at the museum, regardless of vaccination status. Halloween costume masks are not viable alternatives. In addition, adults may not wear costume masks at all.
